Andrew John Mannix

Andrew John Mannix

I would like to share with you all some photos of my son Andrew John Mannix, born on the 3rd of November 2011. Weighing in at an even 3 kilograms this little bundle of joy has changed our lives for the better. After a difficult time for us getting pregnant and having a problematic pregnancy, involving early threatened miscarriage, gestational diabetes and pregnancy induced hypertension to have him in our lives is just amazing. My partner Sandie had an 8 hour labour and only used the gas as pain relief. She is also amazing. I did use acupuncture for the pre birth treatments and personally felt that it did make a big difference to the efficiency of the labour.

I also used acupressure during the labour and again believe this made a big difference to the pain relief of the contractions. Sandie may disagree. This is our first child and we are both over the moon to meet our little man. As a therapist this was my first labour that I have been a part of and it has given me a new perspective on what actually happens during the labour process.

We went through The Mater Mothers hospital and their service was also amazing and the follow up care is greatly appreciated.

Please enjoy the video and leave some comments if you feel so inspired

Thank you so much Katherine, this song reminds us so much of Fiji and is just so important to us both. So it seemed a fit for the slide show. Pretty cool that our boys share a birthday as well. Talk soon Beau

    Beau and Sandie,

Regardless of what you will ever read or be told, the journey you, Sandie and young Andrew are now on is a totally new and unique one, nobody else will ever share the same trip.

My only words of advice are simple – listen to your heart and follow his smile, the magic will always make the bad times fade, he truly is a miracle (you know the odds) and no matter what happens, how tired or frustrated you get the sun will still come up and the magic will return and be with you forever.

Our girls still fascinate me and can make me still in wonder, their now nineteen.

Be proud, you both did well and Andrew is simply a reflection of your world, he is now and forever will be your personal mirror.

    Be and stay happy

Great slideshow of your precious son! Thanks for sharing. Andrew looks like a lovely little boy. Congrats!

Congratulations Beau! Andrew is just gorgeous!  Thanks for sharing the beautiful photos :)
Our bubs being only a week apart I probably don’t have any advice for you that you don’t now already know!  In the last week we have found the “bum pat” settles her back to sleep as does our little finger (she won’t take the dummy yet).  We have also found that if we let her feed more regularly afternoon evening she tends to sleep longer through the night.

    Hopefully will see you soon!

Thanks heaps Sarah, we are pretty stoked and very proud parents. When you get a chance I would love to see some photos of you daughter. What did you end up calling her. Yes we have disovered the “bum pat”. He seems very content during the day but still pretty unsettled during the night sometimes. Think he is weening himself of one of the night time feeds. See you soon Beau. Thanks for the advice

Thanks for sharing Beau. Congratulations, he is so beautiful. I agree with Murray, but with both my boys we found they were much calmer in the evenings if they were close to mum or dad. Either in a sling or skin to skin lying on the couch! Plus you get lots of extra cuddles that way too! Enjoy.

    Thanks heaps Simone,

He is pretty calm in the evenings, he just doesn’t really like the crazy heat and humidity at the moment.  We still get in heaps of cuddles though.  I won’t pass that tip onto Mum and Dad as I would never get him back!!!  How are you going?  Do you have any recent photos of the boys that you could send through?

  • Eulix Vargas

Thank you so much for sharing this Beau! This is an inspiring story.  I just gave birth to my own baby boy on November 16. :-)

    Hi Eulix,

I would love to see a some more photos of your little man!!!  We think that the story needs to be told and one day we will write a book or a series of stories about the whole experience.  Hope all is well with your little man.  Warmest Regards Beau
