Individualised Treatments
This is one of our treatment rooms
Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) does not classify any disease under a fixed classification. Unlike western medicine, TCM does not see your condition as being the same as other people. Each patient is treated on an individual basis. It is possible that ten people could present with ‘Back Pain’ and all have different treatments. Each treatment is individualised for the client at the time of consultation. The aim of the treatments are to return the body to homeostasis.
An initial consultation will have a full health assessment taking into account past medical history, family medical history and also other accompanying signs and symptoms. From this information your individual treatment regime will be discussed. The treatment will consist of a balance of the therapies listed below.
Acupuncture
Acupuncture really feels great
Acupuncture is one of the modalities covered by the wider umbrella of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). Acupuncture is a safe and effective way to promote all aspects of health, including reproductive health. An acupuncturist uses fine single use pre sterilised needles inserted into specific points along the body’s meridians. These meridians flow both at a superficial level nourishing the muscles and other surface level tissues, and also go through to the deep level where they nourish the internal organs.
Acupuncture can treat a wide variety of disorders from muscle pain & sports injuries to more complicated syndromes. The needles are retained in situ for about 20 minutes and are safely disposed of when removed.
Acupuncture benefits include:
- Providing a holistic treatment model that encompasses the physical, emotional and mental
- Treats the underlying cause of a disorder as well as the symptoms
- Promotes and nurtures general health and wellbeing
- Assists in disease prevention
Chinese Herbs
Only the highest grade Chinese herbs are used
Chinese Herbs may also be prescribed in conjunction with the acupuncture treatments for a quicker and more long-lasting effect. Herbs can be prescribed for both acute situations and more chronic problems and for a wide variety of conditions. The herbs used are of the highest quality and all have strict guidelines as to how they are made. These herbs come in easy to take capsules. Depending on your condition one bottle can last up to 3 weeks.
In addition to providing effective treatment for a wide range of health disorders, Chinese herbal medicine may also be used to assist with general health maintenance and disease prevention. Herbs work by increasing and boosting normal body systems such as immune and endocrine so that general well-being is achieved.
Chinese Dietary Advice
Chinese dietary therapy
Chinese dietary advice is rarely given on its own and will be prescribed with treatment regime, in combination with the acupuncture and Chinese herbs. The dietary advice given will include foods to avoid and foods to include there by helping to back up the treatment given. For example if you have a productive cough, avoid foods such as dairy, bananas and peanut butter as they tend to make the phlegm worse. Although this is a lesser used therapy on its own, it is still extremely important to include as what you do in your own life away from the treatment will also have a great effect on your health
Cupping
Chinese Cupping therapy
Cupping occurs when glass or plastic cups are placed on the skin creating a vacuum that makes a suction effect of the skin, fascia and muscles. Cupping will create a passive stretch of the muscles allowing a stronger therapeutic effect that is more beneficial than just massage. Like the massage cupping is another way of stimulating the lymphatic system and also helping to detoxify the body. Cupping is beneficial for tight neck and shoulders and also found to be effective at the very start of cold or flu symptoms.
